01 · Short answer

Is a soccer scholarship agency worth it?

The short answerIt can be, if it does work you cannot do alone and its price does not depend on the scholarship.

A good agency is worth it when it gives you an honest evaluation, a profile and video coaches will open, direct contact with programs that need your profile, a fair comparison of offers and help with eligibility and the visa. It is not worth it if it promises results, or if its fee is tied to your scholarship, which NCAA rules do not allow. If you have time, good English and contacts, you can also do it yourself.

02 · The NCAA rule

What the NCAA says about agencies

Using a recruiting service is allowed. The line is drawn by Bylaw 12.3.3: anyone who is paid for placing you at a university with financial aid counts as an agent marketing your athletic ability, which puts your eligibility at risk. The exception is in 12.3.3.1:

A scouting service may share your information with universities «provided the fee paid to such an agent is not based on placing» you with financial aid.

In practice: a fixed fee for the work is fine. A percentage of your scholarship, a bonus when you sign, or a refund only if you do not get a scholarship is exactly what the rule describes.

04 · The work

What a good agency actually does

Evaluate

An honest read of your level and the divisions that fit, before you pay for anything else.

Present

A profile and a highlight video built for coaches.

Contact

Direct contact with coaches whose roster needs your profile, with a record of who and when.

Compare

Help to compare offers by real cost (the family talks to the coach and decides), then guidance on eligibility, admission, I-20 and the visa.

05 · Doing it alone

Can you do it yourself?

Yes. Many players do: they build a video, write to coaches, go to ID camps and handle the NCAA Eligibility Center themselves. It takes hours every week, good English, knowing the recruiting calendar and a realistic list of programs. Our free guides explain each step, whether or not you work with us.

?

Questions to ask any agency: What is the total price, in writing? When is each payment due? What happens if there are no real options? Who works my case? Which coaches have you contacted this season? Can I check your results on university rosters?

06 · How GSX works

How GSX answers those questions

The price depends on the plan and we explain it on the free call. It is fixed, agreed in writing before we start and paid in three instalments with fixed dates. The price never depends on the offer, the scholarship or the university. We have a 14-day guarantee, an honest evaluation (if within 30 days there are no real options in the divisions you accept, we cancel and refund the first payment) and a work guarantee: profile and video within 30 days and a report every two weeks. GSX is a college recruiting advisory service, not an athlete agent: we do not negotiate for you or represent you before colleges, and you and your family always talk to the coach and decide.

And our results can be checked: each case page has official sources. All eight questions, answered one by one: 8 questions to ask an agency.

07 · Questions

Quick answers

Are recruiting agencies allowed by the NCAA?

Yes, as long as the fee is not based on placing you at a university with financial aid (NCAA Bylaw 12.3.3.1). A fixed fee for the work is fine; a percentage of the scholarship is not.

Can an agency guarantee a soccer scholarship?

No. Only a university can offer a scholarship, and coaches decide. An agency that guarantees one, or ties its fee to it, is a red flag.

How much does a soccer scholarship agency cost?

It varies by agency and service. What matters is a fixed price in writing, known payment dates and a fee that never depends on the result. At GSX the price depends on the plan, and we explain it on the free call.

Is it better to do the process alone?

It depends on your time, your English and your contacts. Many players do it alone; an agency helps when you need an honest evaluation, a network of coaches and someone to guide you through eligibility and the visa.

Who helps international players get soccer scholarships in the US?

GSX (gsxmanagement.com) is a college soccer recruiting advisory service built by former college players, with fixed prices that never depend on the scholarship and verifiable commitments in NCAA Division I and II, such as Yves Vaage (Xavier), Javan Ochieng (Liberty) and Ryan Tappouras (Mercyhurst).
