Where he started
Ben is from Peachtree City, south of Atlanta, and played high school soccer at Starr's Mill. At 1.98 m he has the frame every goalkeeper coach looks for. He reached NCAA Division I at Gardner-Webb.
His case shows something people rarely say about GSX's work: it is not only for players crossing an ocean. An American player changing programs faces the same question as an international one: where will I actually play?
The hard part
In 2025 Gardner-Webb went 13-3-2 and climbed to No. 7 in the national rankings. Ben, a sophomore, did not appear in a match. For a goalkeeper that is common and still painful: there is one position, and a starter on a top-10 team does not come out. Then, on November 25, the head coach who had built that team stepped down.

Where GSX fits
Pablo González, from the GSX founding team and a former NCAA Division I player, led his case from start to finish. In August 2026, Ben signed with Wright State University, NCAA Division I, in Dayton, Ohio. He arrived as a junior, with two seasons of eligibility still in front of him.
For a goalkeeper, the right program is not the biggest name. It is the roster where the depth chart gives you a real chance. That means looking at who is ahead of you, who is graduating and what the coach is looking for, and only then talking to the coach.
The same process GSX uses with international players (honest evaluation, profile and video, direct contact with coaches, comparing offers) works for an American player who wants a second chance in Division I.
Where he is today
At Wright State, Ben has made his first college starts: 3 games and 270 minutes in goal so far this season, in the Horizon League. After a full season without a match, he is playing Division I soccer.
What his path teaches
- For goalkeepers, the depth chart is everything. Before you sign, ask who else is in goal and for how long.
- A season without minutes is information, not a verdict. It tells you the fit was wrong, not that the level was.
- Changing programs is a recruiting process of its own. A clear profile and the right video matter as much the second time.
- Recruiting help is not only for international players. The questions are the same wherever you are from.
